Spooky Framing

SPOOKY FRAMING PROJECT
As framers our goal is always to make the artwork look it's very best for the wall. Our framing consultants generally approach this by pick complimentary matting and frames, but last week we had the small challenge of repairing before framing. Our goal was to conceal some holes in the paper. In the past we have used dark foamcore/backing to fixing this problem but the rice paper was so thin that the black backing was changing the colour of the image as a whole. So we did a more delicate technique by cutting mirrored shapes of the missing bits with acid free craft tissue. The pieces were then adhered to the backing and not the piece. The finished framing showcases the print in its best form without tampering with the piece itself. At The Art Exchange we love the challenges and problem solving that comes with custom framing. |
