Too Fancy for the Table
Interior home design magazines have been displaying plates on walls for years. It's a great way to create a statement wall out of every day items or vintage kitchen objects. The Art Exchange has put together some designs that takes this idea to a new level so you can showcase ceramics and glassware.
Whether your aesthetic is modern or vintage, shadow boxed items add a fun yet stylish element to a home. The designs featured above display how versatile the object framing can be. For these looks we first laid out the set as it would be on a table to measure out the space and overall size. Then matting that complimented each set was chosen, using neutral colours for the more refined designs and pops of colour for the bolder collections. Two things had to be considered when picking the moulding, initially the depth of the frame and then what shapes, colours, or styles would work with the other elements. From antique to modern, the examples show how custom framing can add a new layer to this interior design idea. Perfect for a kitchen or dining room, it's a unique way to feature your collection.
Modernizing Old Glassware
This design takes an antique glass plate and displays it in a modern way, mixing old with new.The plate is held in place with a plate holder attached to the frame backing. A light colour is used to highlight the details in the piece. A bold navy mat with a circular opening adds contrast from the white background and draws the eye inward to the piece. Finished with a simple silver frame, this design shows how old objects can be presented in a modern way.

Three Plates Five Framing Layouts
Here we show five different layouts for the same three objects. This demonstrates that layouts can adapt to the space they are going in. Framing items together is an easy way to cut down on costs as less material and labour are required. The benefit of framing items separately is the ability to place them around a room and the flexibility of frame choice that accents the plate's individual style.
No matter what you are framing, your artwork is always in good hands at The Art Exchange. Our eye for detail and creativity will make your piece one of kind. We truly care about giving our clients the best quality framing with the friendliest of service.
